Too much space between lines in email template

I’ve created my own course reminder templates, but they only show up in the Legacy Template section. When Import them into an email broadcast template the space between the lines of the text is too much, as if it is double spaced. How to I make it single spaced?

Hi Michael, You can remove the double space by holding the Shift" key when you hit the “Enter” button

I am sorry - I must be doing something wrong. When I try this action it either deletes everything (when highlighted) or just doing the action does nothing.
