Working with IS and the shopping cart with a membership based site;

1. Can someone give some recommendations for a merchant account

2. What criteria I should base my decision on, ie: integration w/ IS, cost/rates etc.

I live overseas and it took me a long time to find a gateway that was both compatible with Infusionsoft AND that would deal with my overseas status.

At long last, I found Durango Merchant Services.

To be honest, I thought, at first, that since I was such a "difficult" case, that they would take advantage of it, much like 2checkout.com where I have been (they charge 5.5%).

Not only were their rates competitive but the entire process was relatively uncomplicated, they were friendly and efficient. They are affiliated with Network Merchants and fully integrated into Infusionsoft.

Bob, definitely check out PowerPay.biz - I highly recommend them. They are in-tune with internet marketers and understand how your sales may fluctuate without panicking. They can also have you setup in a day or 2.

I know IS also recommends them. I've been using them for almost 2 years myself now.

If you read a little further down, you'll see that I was with 2CO.com. They're okay, can't complain, they treated me well over the years.

My issue was that I needed a payment gateway that was integrated in Infusionsoft and 2CO.com isn't.

In addition to that, I live overseas.

So...

Powerpay.biz treated me as if I was criminal.

Authorize.net wasn't interested and kept passing me downline to some of their resellers, with the transaction charges and setup fees increasing at every step. All to no avail or success. Then they billed me $187.00 for not being able to set me up with a merchant account.

At some point, I ran into Durango Direct. They are affiliated with Network Merchants (NMI) and, as such, they are integrated into Infusionsoft.

Bingo, that was my solution.

Of course, they don't only cater to overseas merchants. So anyone in the States can use them as well.

They were exceedingly friendly and helpful. As I was dusting off all my old scripts and converting over to them, they provided support at every turn.

What impressed me is that, although I am overseas, they are not trying to kill me with their rates, as did 2CO.com, charging me 5.5% + $0.30.

With Durango, I'm below 3%, which is unusual for an overseas merchant. That's friendly and fair.

If anyone is looking for a hassle-free merchant account, fully integrated into Infusionsoft, I can recommend them - and highly so.
