Adding Custom Fields - at the Product Level? 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I can see that custom fields can be added for contacts, etc. - but what about at the product level?

We need to add a few custom fields at the "Product" level. Two fields should be shown to customers in the cart - ie. "MSRP" and "Measurements." We need to add another field: "Cost" (our cost of acquisition) for each product - that should NOT be shown to customers but used for reporting purposes.

How would we go about doing this?

Should we try to add the fields when importing?

How can we import the inventory quantity? I'd rather not go through each of about 500 products to update the quantity on hand manually.

Hey Wayne,

I do believe you can customize almost everything in the system with the user tools or by API. If you want people not to see the field, you can have your webpage guy, hide that particular field on the html page. I have had my webguy i use do this before.

Or adding fields upon import may be best or if you use the subscriptions area, you may be able to find a work around that way and link the fields with the correct form. It is just for collecting data and entering it into the infusionsoft system so it should be relatively easy.

The thing is, with infusionsoft sometimes you have to be a little analytical and creative in the solutions that will make the system work for you.
You also must be aware of what the system will do and what it wont do....which is where most people make their mistake.

We can help you if you need, just let us know.

I don't see any possibility for a product-level custom field.

You may have to keep an off-site database to maintain all your information.

Thanks for the suggestions. We ended up going to a 3rd Party cart - Claim The Web - to handle the product details rather than try to do the custom work necessary to get there with the IS cart.
