Mailing list affiliate program 1 Year, 3 Months ago Karma: 2
Hello All:

We are looking to build our mailing list by using affiliate marketing, we decided on giving each affiliate that drives people to actually join our mailing list .50 per new signups.

We would like to use the Infusion affiliate module to create link and do the tracking however as far as I saw this will only work if you drive traffic to an actual sales form where a product sales is involved, how could I do the same with directing them to a mailing list web form?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mary

You can do this via a web form.

1. Set up your web form on a page.
2. You then must have the affiliate set up
3. Then of the "Affiliate" Link at the top chose
"Affiliate Redirect"
4. Click on "Add Redirect"
5. Give the redirect a name
6. Put in a short Code (like PB1)
7. In the affiliate box type in the name of the affilate and wait a few seconds then choose the right affiliate.
8. Then Save

now you want to get the url to send to the affiliate.

this can be done a few ways.

1. Click on the affliate search on the right,
2. Search for the affilate
3. Click on Login in the Search View and same in the card view
4. Then choose the link Generator View

The redirect will be there.
it will look like this

http://yourdomain.infusionsoft.com/go/123/m123/

you can automate sending these out automatically but that will take a bit of work, best to just send 30 minutes doing this by hand.

Note I use this also to track PPC sign ups.

Hope this helps.

Regards George

Thanks George,

My main question is, will I be able to see how many sign ups each affiliate directed to our site that actually joined our mailing list in order to pay them? If the answer is yes would you please tell me how?

Thanks

Meny, your correct. Commissions are only calculated when a sale is made...meaning you can use the affiliate module for tracking, but not for calculating commissions. In this case, it would have to be done outside of InfusionSoft. Off the top of my head...what you could do is...

1. Attach an action on the form that adds the prospect to a group (we'll call it the "Referral Unpaid Group")

2. Now we'll pull an affiliate referral report, select our "Referral Unpaid Group" under the Misc Criteria tab and then select your date range for "contact date created".

3. Export into Excel, sort by affname, then calculate commissions.

4. Run a batch action in InfusionSoft to add all the contacts to "Referral Paid Group".

Next time you're ready to run the report, do the same thing, but under the Misc Crit tab, add the criteria to "Is not a member of the Referral Paid Group". Now just save that report and run it at the end of the month. Kinda clunky, but it should work.
