Hi Mica,

Thanks for the response.

Looks like I'll need to go the API route. While I don't mind programming it up, if you have something that's close already, I'd be happy to hear more. Even if it costs me money

Perhaps you could pop me an email with a bit more info at chris@engageselling.com

Also, in terms of the Sales Form, I meant it's ugly in terms of being able to use it for billing information update. Turns out it won't work without a product anyways...

Thanks, Chris

Is Self-Service Credit Card really the answer 1 Year, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi Chris

Not sure that self updating credit card info is the answer. It maybe part of it but I would suggest from doing this for tow or three years with different clients that "technology" may not be the whole story.

You are no alone in this type of delinquency, many have it. The current processes in InfusionCRM do support a lot of the methods for reducing this. Firstly there are reports you can run for people who's cards will run out. You can send them reminders to update their info and using tracked links and some php code on the landing page you can ensure the right person is updating the right cards.

Also you can run triggers events on decline and use the above method as part of the follow up.

Then there is the most effective method with is actually phoning the clients. In most cases its probably best to get another company to do this. I know the Guys at Shieff do a great job at this for some of my clients and some of other infusion users.

Then you can use the triggers, rolling groups and fulfillment lists to run Dunning Sequences just like any other Account Receivable function.

All the above works just as well with payments plans.

Be aware the Credit card update has been there for some time but has always been an "unsupported feature", which means treat it with care and if it goes wrong don't expect too much help.

Hope this helps.

We currently use the API to allow our customers to update their credit card, but even using the API there are problems:

1. You can really only add a new credit card - impossible to "change" a card, or even just update an expiration date. (We've been asking for the ability to retrieve the last 4 digits of cards such that we can let the client choose a card to update).

2. After adding the card, you can update the order, but not the invoice with the new card. This works fine for mid period recurring orders, but not if you have a failing autocharge. In that case it will just continue to fail as the invoice still points to the old card.

Customers find this incredibly frustrating. So much so that I regularly contemplate removing this feature from our site despite the fact that it works ok when there is no currently failing invoice. I'd probably recommend that you just ask your customers to call with card updates, or make outbound calls to them on failures.

Hi Micah,

you mean I simply put this as a form on my server and open it via https://?

Thanks.

Hi Norman,

Not really, you actually need to have a secure certificate (SSL) on your site first. Then, depending on your registrar (company you buy the SSL from) you may either need to add those files to a seperate directory that is secure or you may just need to add the "S" onto the http making it https.

I would suggest getting the SSL from whoever you purchased your domain from. If you don't want to get it from them, then you can get one here. http://moldingboxtech.com/

Once you are installed, as long as the address says https:// in your browser then you are good to go and can just use them like webforms.

SalesForms or OrderForms are a bit trickier if you need to edit them though. Be sure that if you use the source code from an OrderForm and put it into a custom page that you include every field (all hidden fields)from the form.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have another question.

Hi Micah,

thanks very much for the detailed feedback!

Actually, I an very savvy with those things and of course assumed the existing SSL certificate.
I have all that on my server.
Also the form-handling is in good hands here.

That being said: Thank You very much again for looking after me here and NOT assuming I got all the above set.

Thanks,
Norman

I've had a demo of CustomerHub - it's pretty dang awesome and I would definitely recommend taking a look at.

It's a super-easy tool for letting your customers self-serve.

Note that the login uses email address (like the shopping cart).
