S&H costs for subscriptions ... how? 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago

OK, here's how I've designed this.
I'm using a SUBSCRIPTION to provide a continuity program. Every month we bill the subscriber and ship them a physical product.
The product has a price of X and the s&h is Y. Therein lies the rub.
The subscription only charges a single dollar amount, let's call that Z. Now I can certainly "fudge" matters and make Z = X + Y, but then our ability to track revenue and costs separately gets fuzzy.
Here's what I want. Charge $0 on signup for product, just s&h $Y. Set the subscription active and in 30 days charge for the product ($X) and the s&h ($Y) and ideally record both numbers in the transaction.
Rinse and repeat until cancelled.
I'm still seeking the best way to structure this, any ideas?

Just curious how you did the subscription set up? For the initial sale, I just made a product that charged them shipping but just curious how it works for the follow up payments.

Hi James
I'd be interested to know how you set up Infusion to do this, like you we are doing a DVD of the month and want the first month free (+ shipping) and then each subsequent month to charge as you describe.
