Hello Joe,
just to make this clear: I am totally all for a well defined market, US is great.
And also, I am all for branching out internationally, we are planning doing the same thing.
BUT: Imagine having to file a feature request for being able to use vowels.
That is what is expected of me, after 8 or 9 months of working on this issue.
We are paying for Support, but can't get the thing to even start to work.
I am not angry at you Joe, and also not at all at Support, whome I know by first name by now, all of them.
What I am angry about is the fact that these MAJOR things were not pointed out to me at the point of purchase or before.
Larry Howlett is no longer with Infusion, it would not have hurt to tell me "yes, you can use Infusion in Switzerland, but:"
You will not be able to use Voice Broadcast.
You will not be able to print any letters.
You will not be able to send emails.
You will not be able to send faxes.
You will have to build your own front end for entering new Leads, using the API, but
you will not be able to use the API, due to a bug with the Leadsource-Part. (which might be solved in the next release, which would be great)
You will not be able to search in Infusion.
You will not be able to send Invoices."
Or at least "I do not know if Infusion works for your specific needs, outside of the US."
Now please do not get me wrong: I love the ideas you put in the system, I really enjoy working with your team, they are all very into it, perfect.
But we can't even import data into the system to print shipping labels.
If a guys name is Häberli, and 100% of people have vowels in their name if they are not klingon, I can't even search for him right away without a workaround.
Please tell me Joe, what would you do in my situation, being the customer? How would you feel?
I attached some screenshots to show the issues. The biggest one right now is the mutated vowels.
Technically, "all you need to do" is set the basic character set of our application to UTF-8, and it would work, at least that is what my programmer thinks, who has been working and working-around Infusion for 8 months now.
I have attached some screenshots, so you can see what I am talking about.
If you want to walk in my shoes for a day, do not use any vowels, apart from "i" for the answer to this post. This is how all of the international users are supposed to work. Have fun.
And: I would even pay to have these issues fixed. We want to expand internationally, but will not be able to do this with Infusion right now.
So, how do we get this fixed? Can I help? Can we help? I just want to be able to use what you sold me.
All the best.
Patrick Leypold
